After tightening chains countless times, I began to question whether it’s actual stretch or just wishful thinking on my part.
When do you finally say enough is enough and replace it?
I’m curious to know how you recognize real stretch patterns and figure out when a chain has officially worn out.

After a season filled with constant adjustments, I switched to measuring the links instead of just eyeballing it.
Real stretch shows up consistently over a few inches, not just random slack here and there.
When it reaches that point, I swap out the chain saves me from frustration and avoids any surprises mid-cut.

Once kept a chain way too long, convinced it was still fine… until it skipped on a log and gave me a real scare.
Now, I keep an eye out for visible stretch, uneven wear, or rounded teeth.
The moment I see any of those signs, it’s farewell to the old friend and hello to a shiny new chain.

I'm replacing them when they're broken, haha. it's rare, but I use them for heavy duty, so they will eventually break

Haha, that's so true. After all that hard work they really deserve to kick back and enjoy their retirement.

We keep going back to it guys
Excessive chain stretch is caused from running a dull chain, too high depth gauges, severely worn sprocket
