Oregon CS1500 sharpening stones are a rip off!

My dad has the Oregon CS1500 self sharpening electric chainsaw, but those sharpening stones are ridiculously expensive!
They charge $65 for two stones, but a whole new chain and stone combo is only less than $30, it makes no sense!
has anyone figured out a DIY hack for reusing the plastic stone attachment? could I stick a homemade stone in there, or maybe even fill the old one with something like Quickcrete? honestly, I need a cheaper solution

Yeah, I had that exact problem with my dad’s CS1500. Tried to save a buck by reusing the old stone thingy, but it fell apart real quick. I just started switching out the chain and stone together

So, I tried to get crafty and used a grinding wheel bit in the plastic thing. It sharpened a few times, but it wore down weird. Found out quick that just replacing it all is the way to go.

When I borrowed my friend's Oregon, we thought about patching up the stone to save it. It didn't last. Turns out, just buying the whole set saves dough in the end.

They tried self sharpening chains 30 years ago. Didn’t work then
Put on proper chain, learn how to sharpen it or take it to a dealer for sharpening
