Stihl 026 bogging down at high throttle

My Stihl 026 was cutting well today, but toward the end, started bogging down during a cut. It'd cut pretty well at 2/3 throttle still. My air filter had gotten covered in dust pretty well, but cleaning it didn't change anything. I adjusted the carb to spec, but when adjusting the high screw, it wouldn't go to WOT without bogging down. Let off the throttle and it idles fine.

Fresh gas. chain lubed. spark arrester is clean. No scoring on piston or cylinder wall. I did just put a new fuel line on it today. Not a new fuel filter, but it looked fine. Started right up. The carb hasn't been rebuilt in a number of years, and it gets used only periodically.

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you might be dealing with a tired carb or possibly a clogged fuel filter. Rebuilding or replacing the carb and taking a closer look at the filter could really help. Often, those older systems just need a little TLC to get them running like they used to.

#1 dump the fuel out into a clear jar. In the shop, 3/4 of saws will have water, I don't care what fuel you use or how new.
Get a plug and fuel filter. Do the easy stuff first.
Then pull the carb. Diaphragms and screen are suspect as stated above

Check the chain and bar are okay as well before attacking the carby. Could be something there
starting to jam up when things heat up and your oiler is working okay.

Fuel in jar is to check if water separates, right? Good to go if there is none, i assume.

No water in fuel. changed the air filter from the flocked to wire that breathes better. New fuel filter. Starts and runs great right away, but still bogging at WOT. Just shy of WOT it runs and cuts well. So, onto the carb. I read elsewhere that there's not much quality difference in the rebuild kits. That true?

Carb manufacturer if you can get it. I myself do not use Stihl kits due to cost. Just don't look for the cheapest chinese kit on the internet. Find a reputable seller.
