Huge Winter Storm Alert!

A massive stretch of the U.S. from the southern Plains all the way to the Northeast is bracing for snow, ice, and some seriously frigid temperatures.

Millions might find themselves without power, roads are going to be treacherous, and wind chills could plummet to dangerously low levels.

Stay smart. Stay safe. Get prepared ahead of time. Only hit the road if it’s absolutely necessary.

Quick reminder: Who’s filling up their gas tanks? And for those with electric vehicles who don’t have garages, how are you planning to keep your batteries charged? Is everyone stocked up on heating and cooking fuel?

The predictions sound like old school Michigan winter to me....

Oh ya, we prepare for this stuff every winter, gas fer the genny, firewood for the shop, vehicles never below 1/2 tank in the winter, etc.

I’m in Texas, so let’s face it… we’re not made for those Michigan winters. Down here, even a tiny storm can create big headaches. Stay safe out there.

When you live in the Northeast, sounds like just another winter day. Used to live on a hill. Four foot across the end of the driveway a almost zero visibility was a normal day.

The GF and I each have a house. One 60 mins south of Buffalo,and her is 60 miles east of Erie,PA. Both places have natural gas and vent free heaters. Gas cans full at each. Chainsaws all gassed up and plenty of food and water at each as well .Not really worried about the snow as STIHLTECH mentioned. It's the person who takes out an electric pole somewhere and I get my Sunshine Nationals interrupted. LoL. Stay safe everyone.

According to the news, I should stock up equal to the picture below plus a snow shovel (never mind that I have 4 already) a snowblower, a load of ice melt, 40 blankets, 20 sheets of plywood, 4 space heaters, tire chains and a handful of ice scrapers.

You’re definitely geared up to brave any storm and then some! With that much bread and TP you’re ready for a long winter. Just remember to grab some hot cocoa! Stay safe out there!

Ive got 3" snow so far and still snowing. Probably have about 5" by morning. No issues. Furnace has plenty of wood on hand

All is well, in total from Friday night until 7am this morning we ended up with maybe 16" of snow is all. Mind you that's a 60 total. It's the wind that is the worst. I hope and pray everyone came through unscathed for the most part

Glad to hear you're doing well. 16 inches is quite a lot, but it seems like it could have been worse with the wind.

I'm on 100% wood heat. House and shop furnace were at full throttle this morning in the 5 below temp.

Got about 10” of snow here in north central Indiana. Got it all cleared with the John Deere 310D backhoe.
