best mods and safe squish for Husqvarna 372XP XTorq

I’m tearing into my 372XP X Torq this weekend for some upgrades. after seeing a massive boost from a muffler mod and base gasket delete on my 346XP, I’ve officially caught the tinkering bug.
is the old standard of .020" still the safe squish range for the X-Torq models?

I want to push the performance without turning the saw into a paperweight. while I have it apart, are there any other must do tweaks or hidden gems for this specific saw to really wake it up?
 
Last season, I got hooked on tinkering with my X-Torq swapping the muffler and doing some light porting turned my 370 into quite the little rocket.
I found that .020” squish worked well for me, but I kept an eye on the temps.
And don’t overlook how much a tuned carb and the right spark plug can influence performance,
even small tweaks can make a big impact.
 
Just last weekend, I dived into a 365XP, thinking, 'How much worse could it be?' To my surprise, it delivered more power than I anticipated. As for the 372XP, I still find that .020” is a sweet spot, and making minor adjustments to the reed or air filter can really wake the saw up without causing any damage
 
I’ve put in a few hours working on X-Torqs trying to get that just right performance. Generally, .020” squish is safe, but do keep an eye out for hotspots. If you want a little extra kick consider lightening the flywheels or upgrading the clutch springs simple changes can lead to a thrilling boost, and your saw will stay in one piece.

just keep an eye on your compression. If you're pushing over 175 180 PSI, you might need to run higher octane or retarded timing to prevent detonation. Also, don't forget to widen the muffler outlet. the X-Torq runs hotter than the old OE models, so getting that heat out is priority number one.
 
Great points. It’s easy to overlook how quickly compression and heat can increase after modifications, especially with the X-Torq. Managing detonation and ensuring proper airflow seems like a wise approach.
