Craftsman S180 blade binding and smoking

Helping a neighbor out with his Craftsman S180 42cc chainsaw (2020 model). He said it bogs down and starts smoking when the chain's under load, even though the clutch spins fine with the bar off. For your reference, brake's not engaged and oil tank's full. I already swapped the brake band because his old one was toast, but now I'm wondering if the bar itself is warped or the sprocket is dragging. Help, please. TIA.

Could be a warped bar and a worn sprocket. If the brake band is new and oil level's good, check the bar groove for warping, make sure the chain moves freely, also inspect the drive sprocket for drag or damage
