DIY husky chain brake handle

I'm searching for a DIY fix that isn't just resetting the brake
I have a Husqvarna chainsaw, and the spot where the plastic handle hits the metal gear for the brake spring is total junk
it’s soft plastic fighting against narrow metal teeth, and the plastic just gets chewed up. every aftermarket handle I find has the same exact design flaw
has anyone figured out a way to reinforce this? or is there a metal on metal mod out there?

I faced the same problem with an older Husky I got second-hand. The plastic just wasn’t cutting it. I added a small metal shim at the contact point, and it held up a lot better than the original.

I encountered this with a saw I used for storm cleanup all the time, and the plastic wore out almost right away. I didn't find any aftermarket solutions, so I fashioned a thin steel insert and epoxied it into the worn area. It turned it into a metal-on-metal setup, and it lasted way longer than the original design. Not a perfect fix, but it kept me from having to replace the handles every few months.
