Hello everybody again! Good morning or afternoon.
I am in the process of rebuilding a Stihl 028 that I burned up because of my negligence. I have found the issue that caused the lean mixture: a bad crank seal.
My question is regarding the process of getting a new piston and cylinder. The cylinder wall on my 028 AV (44mm) is completely destroyed, so I am looking for an 028 Super cylinder and piston (46mm) that is in mint condition with little to no scoring.
I am also looking at an eBay post for an OEM cylinder to pair with a meteor piston that is in relatively good condition; however, it does have some scoring. I have never refurbished a cylinder with scoring before. Could I use Scotch-Brite, sandpaper, or some other mild abrasive to hone the cylinder if the used cylinder is scored? I would prefer to do this to avoid buying an aftermarket Chinese cylinder, which I have heard terrible reviews about.
If anyone has an 028 Super cylinder and piston (or just the cylinder) that is free of scoring and you are willing to part with it, please let me know. Heres a picture of the cylinder I am currently looking at purchasing!
