Been running and rebuilding my Stihl saws for along time, I have a tree service and like finding old abandoned saws and getting them back to spec.. Today I got a 066 redlight from a customer, said it was his dads originally but stopped running. Thing looks like new, really..
Well, the guy tried to get it running and bought a cheap carb and coil, gave up when it didn't..He gave me the original walbro carb and the redlight coil too… When I got home I pulled the muffler off and pistons scored bad, but minimal transfer on the cylinder and I'll clean that up tommorow..
But I know the aftermarket coil won't work on the redlight , and I'm sure the original redlight coil he gave me is good, it was the piston that made this saw stop running for sure..
The redlight coil has two plug ins on it and I'm not sure what goes where, does a wire from the actual redlight plug in one and the kill switch in the other ? Looks like he put the two black wires together to run the aftermarket coil which only has one plug in on the coil, and there two plug ins on the actual redlight coil..so I'm stumped which black wire goes where, there are two that I need to unsplice and put connectors on so they'll plug in to the redlight coil, but not sure which goes where..I know this is long winded, but a pic or explanation if anyone knows will help..I'll post pics tommorow..thanks in advance, Pete
