Kevlar feels tougher and can handle the heat better. Polyester chaps are lighter and let you move around more easily. So it really comes down to whether you would prefer protection or being comfortable.

I’ve not ever seen chaps for sale that use polyester filling. I’ve only seen Kevlar. It’s the filling that protects you, not the shell.

Exactly, the outer shell is what keeps and hold everything together.
