My first milling slabs with an Alaskan mill

Hey everyone. Just milled my first batch of slabs with an Alaskan mill on my 660. It was a lot more work than I thought, but seeing those wide walnut boards come off the log was incredible. Any pro tips for a newbie miller?

Hey everyone. Just milled my first batch of slabs with an Alaskan mill on my 660. It was a lot more work than I thought, but seeing those wide walnut boards come off the log was incredible. Any pro tips for a newbie miller?

Yeah most people can't appreciate how much work and time goes into milling ogs along with inhaling gas fumes and fine sawdust. Its a lot of trial and error learning how to keeping the mill cutting straight and easy. Sharp chain is essential. If everything is right you shouldn't have to force the mill through the cut.
