I spent alot of years in the SYP lumber industry at the mill level and have a Stihl 029. I started out with a second hand HOMELITE
SUPER WIZ now that was a bear unless you were cutting big hardwoods. Original carburetor finally needs some work so is it better to just replace or rebuild it. I haven't looked into it but she is still a good saw and has plenty of compression, any thoughts. Thanks enjoy the the knowledge.

If you find a carb for sale,, quicker and easier way out. If it just needs a cleaning, use some acetone to soak the parts in. Is it running rough? I find on my saws to keep running smoothly, to us e a couple drops of a good carb cleaner, dry gas, octane booster, stabilizer, keeps things from getting gummy.

If the throttle and choke shafts are tight in housing I would put a kit in it.Carb cleaner through all passages, count low and high mixture screws rounds out from fully closed.put back where you found them. I get all my kits from Gary-green background on pictures-He includes extra intake gaskets etc. you will not have to make any gaskets--all OEM kits .new fuel line from local small engine shop--have fun stay away from china carbs -David-old cat mechanic--43 years-non ethonol gas
