I bought this saw from a guy who said he was using it and it just stopped running. He put on a new carb, fuel filter and spark plug but couldn't get it to run. I bought it and found that the spark plug wire had a break in the insulation and was arcing to ground. I repaired that and still no start. Compression is good. I put in a better spark plug and got it running late yesterday. Today I went to start it and it was a no go. I pulled the plug and it was wet. Checked for spark and it was good. Couldn't even get a sputter with starting fluid (I know that's a no-no on a two stroke). I'm stumped - any ideas? Thanks

If the plug's wet and you've got spark, it's likely flooding, could be a stuck needle in the carb or poor crankcase sealing. Try drying the plug, pulling it over with throttle wide open to clear excess fuel, then test again. Also check impulse line and seals if it still won't fire.

Is this a points saw? Did you retime it? If electronic, did you line up the marks?
All of the other post are good to look at also.
