Stihl ms 201TC-M compression

Hi,
I’m dealing with a 201TC-M that won’t idle. It will not pass the calibration test, when cold it only runs for about 60 sec. It passed the pres/vac test. Used a new plug, which gets wet every time I get it out.
With a lot of effort it will run in high rpms.
The thing I’m not sure about is the compression. I get max 115psi. Is that enough for this model?

115 psi seems a bit low for the 201TC-M which might indicate worn rings or potential valve problems. The wet plug points to inefficient combustion, possibly due to being fuel-rich or having a weak spark. I’d recommend checking the injector timing and performing a leak-down test next.

I'm running about 8 of those daily for the last 4 or 5 years. Pretty disappointed in their performance compared to ms200T but we were mandated to switch to them. I can't count how many of them have had poor starting and bad idling, usually dying, a few high idlers. I drop them off at the shop and they change fuel filters, spark plugs and ignition/computer module since there is no adjusting of the mixtures. Crying shame. Then they go back out in the field for another 3-6 months before they visit the shop again

These saws MUST have the solenoid replaced, especially if they started out with a white inside fuel filter. Known issue. Always do a vacuum and pressure test. Without it you really don't know if an air leak is causing the other issues.
Doing a lot of these for local tree services. It is just a 2 stroke saw. Treat it as such when repairing.
Biggest issue I see ( after the fuel filter/solenoid) is crappy fuel and a lot of debris in the tank.
As I said, just like any other saw.
The first year 201s were lacking power. That was fixed in the subsequent year or so. The complaints stopped after that.
