Tips for running ethanol‑blended fuel without issues

What tips, additives, or habits do you have to keep your engine running smoothly and avoid any problems with ethanol blends?

Used to think that just filling up the tank and hitting the road would be enough when it came to ethanol. But after dealing with a sticky injector situation, I learned my lesson. Now, I make it a point to run a fuel stabilizer and only top off the tank when necessary. A little bit of preventive maintenance goes a long way in keeping the engine happy and avoiding any surprises while I'm out riding

My first encounter with ethanol issues happened when my bike hesitated to take off definitely a lesson learned.
Now, I make sure to add a small amount of ethanol-compatible cleaner every few fills and keep the tank topped off to minimize condensation.
It works like a charm and saves me from dealing with strange fuel problems down the line.

I’ve since switched to keeping the tank full, using additives, and cycling through the fuel regularly.
Honestly, a little bit of planning can prevent major headaches.

How come I have never had this issue? Auto Tech and owner since '76. I little injector cleaner if I remember.
Short trips and long times of sitting are the issue. Use it and don't let it sit.
Other than that, I see no issues. I do try to do the Top Tier fuel thing, for what it's worth.

Makes sense, short trips and sitting seem to be the real culprit

For some years I have used fuel additives. Hayter fuel stabiliser and now and or also Stabil. I put them into the can I use for all gasoline at the pump before filling the can to ensure they are well mixed. Only trouble I have ever had was with melted, messy, sticky fuel lines and filter on a Titan strimmer that I bought in a momment if weakness.
I can't remember if that was predating the use of ethanol but suspect it was. Got to be honest not having ethanol free gas at the pumps in the UK is a real piss off.

Great tip. Mixing the stabilizer in the can first is a clever idea. It’s a bummer about the ethanol situation in the UK that must be really frustrating.

I put marine grade Stabil and Star Tron in the 5 gallon cans before they get filled. I then mix up 2 cycle mix, 1 gallon at a time. I've yet to have fuel related problems. The local small engine guy puts Star Tron in everything before he brings it in the shop. It could be snake oil, but at least it has placebo effect.
