Wanting to know how to port and polish

Hello everyone my name is Jake Broussard I'm 45 years old I'm from Lafayette Louisiana I have had a small tree service called the woodster tree service I've been in business since 2017. I have now collected over 30 chainsaws of all brands but I just purchased a 2013 Husqvarna 372 XP and I want to make it breathe fire!! I have gotten very good at sharpening my chains so at least I have that down I am a very good mechanic worked on BMWs as a technician in Lafayette Louisiana at the dealership there and I currently on the side do small engine repair but I have a fascination with chainsaws and I want to know everything about them. I'm looking for a good important polish book if y'all know any or the best easy read with illustration and pretty much everything that you need to know about porting and polishing any chainsaw engine I would really appreciate it and thank you all very much beforehand and thank you all for letting me join this form Jake Broussard

A properly ported saw will breath fire into them, but keep in mind after they are ported, everything has changed from the OEM design and configuration, they may not last as long as OEM, you being a professional BMW tech you understand engines better than most on here.
Now there is mixed opinions on porting, some say they last longer, others say they don't.
The environment, how you PM them, operate them, type of gas, gas mix, etc plays the critical roll in their life span.

I have been told by guys that run ported saws they are harder to keep them in time, others have said don't mess with how the porter set up the timing and you are good to go.
When you find your information and start porting, please don't forget us here and keep us up to date on what porting has done for you.

Hey Guys, Jake, just a little about the 372 XP that I purchased. At first it didn't want to run barely at all so I played with it and tweaked it and got it to run really good. I haven't put it in any wood yet to see what it's got so far. I'm about to pull a muffler and see what what the cylinder looks like and see if it's been ported already. I just realized that it already has a big air filter added but no Muffler mod which seems kind of odd to me I'm thinking maybe the owner put the stock Muffler back on possibly but I'll know more whenever I look at the cylinder and the exhaust port. Does anyone know how to make a chainsaw dyno I'm really interested in that also I would like to know really what kind of power it makes before and after so I know what I need to do on the next one. If anyone could shoot me a link to let me see how they're made I'm sure that I could whip one up pretty quick. Thank you fellas for your support and I'll keep you all posted.
