Weird tools or gadgets you keep in your chainsaw kit for fun

When you reach for your chainsaw, there’s always that one quirky tool or gadget tucked away in the kit. It might not be essential, but it sure makes things a bit easier or just adds a dash of fun. What are those unusual items you can’t help but carry along, and what’s the story behind them?

I’ve got this tiny toothbrush for scrubbing out the gunk from bar grooves and vents. It might look a bit silly, but it does the job really well. I found it during a messy job, and now it’s a permanent part of my kit.

I also carry a little paint marker to note the chain direction and to mark sharpened cutters. It’s not essential, but when I’m worn out, it helps me stay organized and saves me from having to think too hard.

There’s an old lucky coin taped inside my tool pouch. It doesn’t do anything practical, but every time I forget it, something seems to break. So now, it tags along on every job without fail.

Probably my favourite is an old Oregon bar tool , depth guage tool. It has .025,030,035, depths.
Always use chain manufacturer’s spec.

Little spark gadget to test spark. Get a lot of people that have not seen them
but when there chainsaw stops and they are not sure why then they can
see why I carry it.

Love these tools. The lucky coin and the bar tool depth gauge are great, but that spark tester is a real gem in the field. Once you’ve been in a situation without these handy little tools, you’ll understand why they’re must-haves.
