Why does my chain keep getting dull so fast on hardwood?

You go out feeling prepared, make a few cuts, and suddenly the saw feels worn out and dusty. You know that can’t be normal.
What’s the first thing you check when your chain loses its edge too quickly on hardwood?

The first thing I do is check the tension and sharpness of the chain. If it’s loose or a bit dull, it'll cut through hardwood much quicker than you'd think.

I take a look at the bar and chain together before making sure the oil flow is good. If the wood's too dry or there’s not enough lubrication, it can dull the edge pretty fast.

Honestly, I also check the chain angle and depth gauges, just to confirm it’s the right chain for hardwood. Sometimes, it’s not just bad luck, it’s that the wrong chain's been used.
