This morning, I had a conversation with a man about building chainsaws. He shared a frustrating story about his 500i chainsaw. Apparently, he had given it to someone for a few months, and then this person suddenly cut off all contact. The man was really upset, which is completely understandable considering the chainsaw costs $1500. I suggested that the smartest approach would be to involve the sheriff to sort things out. It's astonishing how some individuals believe they can cheat others without consequences

What a nightmare.
First thing he needs to go to the local Stihl dealer turn it in as stolen, this will get the serial number put on the stolen list.
Second thing he needs to get the serial number from his Stihl dealer, file a stolen report with the Sheriff's office. Good thing for him this will evidentially go to the circuit court since it is TBUT which is a felony due to the value and replacement cost.

Yup. It has cost me less doing free work than loaning my property just to get it back damaged, if at all.
