Artisan Firewood - anyone tried It?

been hearing a lot about this artisan firewood lately and, honestly, I'm curious. I've always just grabbed whatever's on sale at the hardware store, but I've noticed a few local places selling this artisan firewood, cut just right, seasoned to perfection, legit the whole deal. I mean, I get it, there's something kind of cool about having good firewood cos It's not just about starting a fire; it's about making the whole experience more… intentional, right? Does it really burn cleaner or longer? Or is it just another way to sell wood for a premium? would love to hear thoughts before I invest in what's basically fancy logs

Yeah, I've tried both types of firewood. The artisan or kiln-dried stuff really burns cleaner and hotter because it has lower moisture levels (below 20%). You'll find that it lights up more easily, produces less smoke, and offers a steadier burn. It does come with a higher price tag, but if you're interested in having clean burns and easy fires, it's definitley worth the investment. That said, I still pick up logs from the hardware store for casual use, just trying to keep a good balance, you know?

Check local mills or arborists, sometimes they've got the good stuff without the boutique markup.

That sure sounds pretty high falootin. I grow my own cooking wood which is seas grape, a fruitwood growing along coastal southern Florida. Of course I cut and split it myself for the KBQ stick burner. It's easy enough to have plenty well seasoned wood at the ready.

Artisan firewood does sound fancy lol. I mean, I'm with you tho. If you don't care about "status" or whatever, just grab the cheap stuff and call it a day. Fancy wood does burn cleaner and longer due to better drying but I think you can make regular wood dry up given a couple YouTube videos here and there.

I’m surprised by this thread here. This is a chainsaw forum. Why is anybody here discussing the idea of BUYING firewood? After seasoning, my firewood measures 8-13% moisture when it goes into the woodstove, most of it is 10 or less, so there’s no need to buy firewood from anyone.
