Chain storage & maintenance preventing rust and stretch

I'm trying to figure out the best way to take care of my chain. I'd love to hear your advice on how to store it, when to lube it, and how often to check the tension so it lasts longer.

To care for your chain, store it in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. Lubricate it every 50-100 miles or after exposure to water, and check the tension regularly, adjusting as needed to prevent slack. Proper maintenance will extend its life and performance

to prevent rust prevention I usually soak the clean, removed chain in a container of bar oil for a few hours, before long term storage. When you hang it up, the oil coating will act as a rust barrier.
Store your saw (and spare chains) in a cool, dry place. The back of a drafty shed or a humid basement is asking for rust.

Good storage and rust prevention tips. Additionally, keep an eye on chain elongation using a caliper, if it stretches more than 1%, it’s time to get a new one. Be careful not to over-tighten, doing so can put too much stress on the sprockets and bearings, causing them to wear out faster.
