I used to overlook the importance of regularly lubricating my chain, which resulted in rust and wear over time. Now, I make it a point to check the lubrication and tension every day. When it comes to the engine, I follow the suggested oil change schedule and always go for premium oil. After every use, I clean and inspect the bar thoroughly to avoid any buildup and potential damage.

I used to be bad about flipping my chainsaw bar, and one side would wear out faster than the other. Now, I turn it around every few times I sharpen the chain. I also grease the tip, that really makes the bar last.

I keep wanting to change the oil in my chainsaws, but don't see the point. They have a fill cap for oil that I keep filling up. However, after running one until it runs out of gas, it always needs more oil.
PS I can't figure out where the oil filter is, any suggestions where to look on a blue Homelite? What filter should I get?

The oil container on your saw is just for chain and bar lubrication. The oil for the engine is mixed with the gas for 2 cycles.

I don't think chainsaw use is for everybody. Perhaps pursue a different hobby?

Thanks & I do. However my other hobbies don't heat the house or provide as much exercise. Especially hand splitting firewood.
