Echo CS590 Timber Wolf or Husqvarna 460 Rancher for a non pro

I'm ready to upgrade from my old Craftsman chainsaw and I’m torn between the Echo CS590 Timber Wolf and the Husqvarna 460 Rancher
I’ve got about a dozen 40ft trees to clear on my new property, then it’ll just be occasional firewood and storm cleanup
The Echo is around $470 at Home Depot, while the Husky is around $650 at Lowe's
putting brand loyalty aside, is the Husqvarna actually worth the extra $200 for a nonpro?

I couldn't find a direct comparison, so I’m curious if one of these farm and ranch chainsaws really stands out in terms of reliability or power

I faced the same choice when I moved to a place with some huge oaks. I went with the Husky and have no regrets, it devours logs like candy. But for casual use, the Echo will do just fine!

It handled a dozen big trees without the usual 'vibrate and curse.'
Just know, it’ll set you back $200

The Echo CS590 is great for occasional use lots of power and easier on the budget. The Husky 460 is better for the long haul but for a few big trees, $200 might be overkill.

The CS-590 is built on a professional magnesium chassis, while the 460 Rancher is built on a plastic "pro-sumer" chassis. The Timberwolf makes 4hp vs the Rancher's 3.6hp. A more apples to apples comparison would be the Husqvarna 555. Echo saws perform very well and are an outstanding value! Size for size, Husqvarna and Stihl make some better performing saws, but at a very large premium. Please share what you decide to get.

@Oconnel_ you need to check out ebay, you might be able to get a serviceable 036 STIHL for around that coin

Great comparison. Echo provides excellent value but the Husqvarna 555 is a solid option if you're looking for more power.

If you run your saws dry at the end of a day than next time around primer bulb on husky may help starting it.

If you leave fuel in the saw, than it should not make a difference.
