Greetings, needing to know if it is necessary to set a piston ring end gap for a after market Nikasil cylinder kit. I had been told by the seller it was not necessary>
Thanks for your reply, though I was aware of this and was looking for someone who had first hand experience with this after market cylinder kit.Always make sure to check the ring end gap on those aftermarket kits. To do this, insert the ring into the cylinder, square it up, and then measure it using feeler gauges. Aim for a gap of 0.004-0.006" for every inch of the bore. If it’s too tight, don’t hesitate to file it down a bit to avoid any binding or seizing.
