I'm trying to make my Stihl 026 muffler mod, but it doesn't seem to work the way i wanted to. I can say that i am an amateur at chainsaws and i need a bit of help. Anyone has an idea on how to make a custom muffler mod? Is it easy to make or does it need practice?

Muffler mods can be tricky, especially if you're new to chainsaws, it's all about finding the right balance between exhaust flow and noise and yes it's doable with some practice, but start slow

I'll use an Echo 590 as ana example and I'm going from memory..
From the exhaust port into the muffler there is a baffle that redirects exhaust gases.
What I did is start small and drilled out the baffle. Ultimately it ended up being a half an inch.
Now the exhaust has a strait path through the muffler.
You can then tune the muffler's exhaust port by opening it up.
The idea is to get as much exhaust out as possible.
Noise is by product that can be mitigated by ear muffs or ear plugs. So I'm not concerned about that.
