When it comes to my favorite woods, I’m not talking about cutting them. Recently found a beautiful slab of maple at a local shop and I’m itching to use it for a table. What’s your favorite wood to admire or use in projects, not for cutting?

I've always had a soft spot for oak. A few years ago, I crafted a small bench from it, and the grain still looks fantastic.

I like quarter sawn oak but walnut is just beautiful.
I will say I was really pleased with a catalpa bookcase I made one time. Never had the pleasure of sawing any pecan and working with it but have always wanted to.

Heard pecan is great to work with, nice and stable, kind of a mix between hickory and walnut.

Absolutely, it really does and definitely tougher.
