Hey all, jumped over from another forum to post here too. I acquired a 242GXA while I was over in England and have yet to fully decipher the serial number as no combination makes sense. The only thing that makes any sense is that it would be a prototype saw that predates most known 242 variants.

Any and all help identifying it is appreciated.

Half the fun of old tools is realizing the factory apparently documented everything on napkins and pure optimism.

That serial definitely looks unusual, it could be early prototype or factory experimental unit
