pre owned Poulan 306a price

I found a used Poulan 306a, the owner wants $150. the chainsaw looks like in a good condition
is it a good price or should I find somewhere else?

For a vintage saw that runs well and cuts cleanly $150 is a fair asking price. If it’s been sitting around though it’s worth trying to negotiate a lower price.

I think it's a good price, just make sure you test it first, before buying

Hi there. I'm a little late to this thread, but if the saw is in decent shape at all, that's a great price for a 306A! Those saws have inflated values because of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". The movie actually featured the 245A, but the casual observer usually doesn't spot the differences (except the ID stickers). I have two that I bought off of Ebay, that cost more than $150. I intended to have two runners... one with a bow, and one with a 20" bar. Something came apart inside the bow saw the other day, and since I have months of work to do cleaning up from the ice storm, I won't be tearing down that saw for a while.

Count on overhauling the carb at a minimum, unless the saw has been run regularly. Use a genuine Tillotson kit, as some of the aftermarket kits don't work all that well. Please let me know if you bought it, and how it runs. They were pretty good saws back in the day. When I was a kid cutting firewood, two guys who cut with us each bought a brand new one. Not as fast as an 038, but they do pull chain quite steadily under a load!

This is some really useful info on the 306A values and the link to the movie, I had no idea about that! The tips about the Tillotson rebuild kit are also really helpful. I hope the OP got it and lets us know how it works out. Thanks for sharing your insights.
