More time prepping than cutting?

After a morning of scrubbing bar oil and sharpening chains, I barely managed to get through a couple of logs. Does anyone else feel like they end up cleaning, greasing, and prepping more than they actually get to run their chainsaw some days?

Seriously, it feels like chainsaw ownership is mostly prep work, with a little cutting thrown in.
I’ll have everything spotless and perfectly adjusted, then the weather changes or my back starts acting up.
At least the saw's ready for next time… whenever that might be.

Totally. Some days it seems like I’m spending all my time just keeping the chainsaw in shape barely getting a chance to cut anything. I can easily spend an hour cleaning and sharpening, only to lose light after cutting just two logs.

This happens all the time. I start with the intention of a quick tune-up, but before I know it, I’m deep in cleaning mode. By the time I’m ready to cut, I’ve got just enough time for one log before calling it quits.

I know that feeling.
I’ll clean, grease, sharpen, and check the tension, only to realize I’ve spent more energy getting the saw ready than actually cutting.
At least it runs like a dream… for those brief five minutes.

Definitely, especially during winter. I’ll get everything ready as if I’m gearing up for a long day of logging, but end up only cutting enough to feel like I’ve accomplished something. At least the saw’s in great shape, even if I’m a bit frustrated.
